Biography[]
We first see A.M. processing through customs inspection in the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). After clearing customs, he enters a restroom where he burns his passport. He then drives to a vacant lot located under a Los Angeles freeway where he meets 2 men who have prepared him new identification. After he inspects the passport, he kills them both and drives away. He arrives back at LAX where he is booking a flight to Denver, Colorado. While waiting, he engages a small boy who is looking at the comic book A.M. is holding. A.M. tells the boy that the reason he likes comic books is because the good guy always wins. The ticket agent calls him Mr. McBride and informs him that he is booked through to Denver. The window on her computer terminal shows that his name is Andrew McBride from the U.K.
After arriving in Denver, and driving on a snowy, mountain road, he meets up with a man who gives him a cell phone that is linked with a GPS tracker to the truck containing the "Little Wing" missiles. He also gives him a map that shows 2 good ambush points. The man wants to confirm with A.M. that the weapons will only be used overseas and that the truck driver won't be harmed. A.M. says that of course, he would never harm anyone.
After Russo shows Reacher and O'Donnell a DHS document showing that A.M. was a known International Arms Broker with connections to terrorist organizations, Reacher gives Russo the list of aliases that they had found in Franz's post office box. When Russo checks them with DHS, he finds that one of the aliases, a man named Alexander Markopoulos, just bought a ticket from Denver to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and that the flight boards soon. When A.M. enters the airport, he notices some suspicious men that are obviously on the lookout for someone. Figuring that his cover has been blown, he pretends to knock over one of the men's suitcase but when he goes to pick it up to hand it back, notices that it is empty, which confirms his suspicions.
A.M. now knows that all of his aliases have been discovered and that he needs to proceed without cover of his aliases. Calling Langston, he informs him that he will be delayed and assures Langston that he will keep his end of the bargain. Langston asks how he plans to get to New York without Identification, and as A.M. notices an advertisement on a bus bench, tells Langston not to worry. A.M. goes to the office of the Dr. Manuel Elzogby, the Plastic Surgeon who he saw advertised on the bus bench and inquires as to getting a new face. A.M. stabs him in the neck and while the Doctor lays, dying, tells him what his body is doing while he dies. A.M. takes the Doctor's identification and on the way out of the office, kills his receptionist in a similar manner. He departs the office, but not before posting a sign on the door that all appointments for the rest of the day have been cancelled. He then goes to a car rental facility where he rents a Cadillac Escalade by using Dr. Elzogby's identification.
Finally on the road to New York in his Cadillac, A.M. receives a call from one of his men, Oleg, who tells him that they have hijacked the truck with the missiles. A.M. tells him to switch the trailers and that he will see him in New York. Dixon and Neagley have followed the route of the New Age truck and find it while Oleg is switching the trailers. A gunfight breaks out where Neagley and Dixon take out 3 of A.M.'s men, but Oleg is able to drive off with the New Age trailer. He let's A.M. know about the situation whereas he calls Langston to tell them that he has expected a smooth transaction, but with all the problems, there may need to be a price adjustment. Langston assures him that there will be no further problems.
A.M. stops at a rest stop in Pennsylvania and while is is in the restroom, a Pennsylvania state trooper is examining his car and says that he is in violation due to an object hanging from his rear view mirror. A.M tries to deflect the officer, but she says that she is going to give him an official warning which means that she needs to run his ID trhough the computer system. As she is calling it in, A.M. kills her with his knife and drives off. While the trooper lays, dying, her radio continues to respond to her call saying that the man is wanted and that backup is on the way.
Finally in New York, A.M. meets up with Oleg and the New Age trailer. He inspects the product which meets his approval and then tells Oleg to take him to the New Age engineer who is going to show him how to install the microchips.
A.M. and Oleg arrive at Russell's house only for Oleg to get shot in the head by Neagley and Reacher takes A.M. in for questioning. Inside, they present the missile and Reacher accuses A.M. of killing their friends over the weapons. A.M. denies the allegation but Reacher knows that A.M. does not care about the lives of innocent people till he acquires finder's fee. A.M. gives them the option to arrest him but O'Donnell rebuffs by assuming that he had a top lawyer in his pocket. Dixon gives him the option to disclose the name of the buyer but A.M. refuses, seeing as how it will tarnish his reputation and business. A.M. tries to charm his way out of the situation by announcing that he is just the middleman and prefers to be a weapons seller rather than holder of one but this statement costs him his life as Dixon, Neagley, O'Donnell and Reacher shoot him multiple times.
