Alan Michael Ritchson (born November 28, 1982) is an American actor, director, model and singer. He most famously portrays Jack Reacher in the Reacher Amazon Prime television series.

Ritchson made his acting debut as Aquaman/Arthur Curry on The CW superhero series Smallville (2005–2010), where he appeared as a guest star between the fifth and tenth and final seasons. Ritchson later gained further prominence for portraying Thad Castle on Spike TV sitcom Blue Mountain State (2010–2011), a role that he reprised in the 2016 film sequel, Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland. He also headlined the SyFy action series Blood Drive (2017), and in 2018, he returned to superhero television as Hank Hall / Hawk on the HBO Max series Titans.

Outside of television, Ritchson played Raphael in both the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and its 2016 sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, alongside appearing in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013). He made his directorial debut with the action-comedy film titled Dark Web: Cicada 3301 (2021), which he also co-starred in.

Biography

Ritchson was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is the son of Vickie (born June 21, 1958), a high school teacher and David Ritchson (born June 5, 1956), a retired U.S. Air Force chief master sergeant. He's the second of three sons in the family. During his childhood, Ritchson's family moved to Rantoul, Illinois. Later, at age 10, Ritchson's family settled in Niceville, Florida. He attended Niceville High School, where he graduated in 2001. In a 2013 interview with the Indonesian magazine Da Man, Ritchson said that he had obtained a full music scholarship. From 1999 through to 2003, he attended as a dual enrollment student and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree at Okaloosa Walton Community College, now known as Northwest Florida State College. Ritchson was also a member of the Fine Arts division's Soundsations and Madrigal Singers. In 2006, he married his wife Catherine Ritchson (born March 20, 1984). The two have since had three sons together; Calem (born September 18, 2012), Edan (born February 22, 2014), and Amory (born December 6, 2015).

• Actor Alan Ritchson, according to IMDb, is 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) tall. However, other references indicate his height at 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m). In Reacher, with either shoes or boots, he stands taller and closer to the height of Jack Reacher in the books, described as being 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) tall.
• Ritchson trained to gain 30 lbs (13 kg), going up from 205 lbs (92 kg) to 235 lbs (106 kg) for the first season of Reacher. He claims to gain more weight, coming in at 240 lbs (108 kg) for the second season, closer to the character's weight in the books, that being 210–250 pounds (95–113 kg).
• Other details denotes Reacher (in the books) having a 50-inch (127 cm) chest. Ritchson himself has a 45-inch (114 cm) chest, but this measure may have varied due to his training for the role for each season.
