Biography[]

Operation Kite Runner[]

David is appointed as Captain in the U.S Army before he is hand-selected Reacher to be a member of the U.S. Army 110th MP Special Investigations Unit alongside others with their own respective specialties. Initially, O'Donnell expresses himself as selfish, cocky and having a playboy nature to other members particularly Stan Lowrey, Jorge Sanchez and Manuel Orozco. After treated to a round of beer at a Officer's club by Reacher, O'Donnell chatters with the unit until Frances Neagley is insulted by another patron due to her rank. O'Donnell along with the other members engage in a fight before celebrating at the campfire. The team commemorates their first night with a photo which he kept in his house years later.

Sometime later, O'Donnell, Reacher, Karla Dixon, and Tony Swan respond to a murder case where Private Simms was found dead outside of a pub. Initially, O'Donnell suspect a bar brawl gone wrong but Swan confirms Simms was not involved in fights as no one had recognized him. Reacher deduces Simms had been running for his life as his pant cuffs are stained with muddy rainwater, figuring he had tripped in a pothole and got shot in the back. Additionally, Reacher deduces the ink smudged in his palm resembles a kite belonging to someone's drugs. Lieutenant Colonel Hortense Fields visits the crime scene and is informed of the case and asks to keep updated. After inspection, Reacher realizes that the kite resembles a fighter kite, popular in Afghanistan where it's a central place for heroine's production. Sensing a link between this case and one involving aviation fuel Dixon had discovered, Reacher asks her to look in that case once more as he had an idea what was being transported on the plane.

Afterwards, the operation is dubbed as Kite Runner in referenced to the smeared ink. O'Donnell, alongside others, work on the case for 2 consecutive years. They successfully recover 48 bags of heroin from a drug bust with congratulations from the unit's commanding officer, Hortense Fields. However, near the operation's conclusion, Fields's commanding officer orders it to be shut down as he doesn't want a large drug operation to be made public, fearing it would affect his promotion. Much to the unit's irritation, Fields is forced to order the group to terminate the operation.

Before the unit departs for their training holiday, Reacher informs them of the news but Dixon reminds him they are not allowed to pursue further with Lowrey asking Reacher if he understands the consequences. Reacher states busting the drug deal will be the culmination of their hard work. Reacher acknowledges defying a direct order may result in permanently damaging their careers and dishonorable discharges or assignment to military stations in undesirable locations, but clarifies finishing will result in severing this drug trade from further occurring. Reacher gives them the option of leaving but, to his surprise, all the members opt to stay and see it through.

That night, O'Donnell and the rest arrive to find Lieutenant Hughes, Tsai, and Molnar are the smugglers. After they are detained, the team searches for signs of heroin but initially cannot find any until Reacher notices a rubber plug was attached to a tire. They soon discover heroin was hidden in the Humvee tires and prepares to arrest them until the drug dealers attack, scattering the group. O'Donnell assists in taking down the dealers, save for Hughes who runs from the scene but is captured and arrested by Reacher.

The next day, they celebrate their successful completion of Operation Kite Runner, Franz prints out the photos taken at the campfire and hands them out to the group as keepsakes. During their celebration, Fields informs them the unit is disbanded and furiously reprimands them for their actions. Reacher is adamant he will not apologize for the unit's actions. After Fields leaves, the unit resumes. Sometime after, the group is disbanded and everyone goes their separate ways.

Civilian Life[]

Afterwards, O'Donnell leaves the military and studies law at Rutgers. O'Donnell marries his wife Lilly and has 3 children and becomes a full-time lawyer to support his family. During this time, O'Donnell drops his playboy ways and commits himself to being a family man. Days prior to Calvin's murder, O'Donnell took his family into the woods where they experienced many outdoor activities without any digital distractions. O'Donnell and his family are forced to return to their home when his kids begin to exhibit extensive bad behavior. O'Donnell then receives the message about Calvin's murder and tries to find Reacher and Neagley.

Catskill Mountains Murder Case (2023)[]

When he arrives at their hotel room in New York, O'Donnell discovers the room has been ransacked. Hearing someone approach, O'Donnell tries to ambush them but is relived when he recognizes it is Reacher and Neagley. He shares his condolences and vows to kill the culprits. When Neagley plugs in the USB the pair had obtained from Calvin's PO box, she discovers it to be password protected. The team scrambles for guesses and they begin to dissect Calvin's character to come up with things he might’ve used as a password. O'Donnell argues Calvin had respected Reacher more than anyone. Neagley tries "Reacher" as the password and turns out to be correct.

In the hotel, Neagley prints out the list of aliases, which all include the initials A.M. and seven pages containing an apparently random succession of numbers. In an attempt to contact Swan, the three travel to his Queens apartment, only to find it in shambles and his dog Maisi dead from dehydration. Reacher theorized Swan had been dead for some time as he would never let his dog die from thirst. Fearing for their teammate's lives, Reacher comes to the conclusion that someone has a vendetta against their group.

As they leave, Reacher notices a sedan following them and knocks out NYPD detective named Gaitano "Guy" Russo. The trio flee the scene with O'Donnell criticizing him for his reckless actions as he will be wanted by NYPD. Neagley recognizes Russo to be one of the officers in charge of Calvin's murder case. Reacher theorizes NYPD had seen his call made to Neagley and got alerted when she bought his plane ticket to New York. O'Donnell informs the pair he had called Sanchez and Orozco only to find their voice mail was full. Reacher suggests to head to Atlantic city to search them.

Sometime later, Neagley, O'Donnell, and Reacher are reunited with Karla Dixon who is informed of the ongoing situation and joins them in their investigation. Dixon looks over the number pages left behind but is unable to make sense of them. O'Donnell suspects James Barr is behind the murders though Reacher quickly disproves of this based on his MO and the fact Barr is in Reacher's debt when he ran into him in Indiana last year.

In Atlantic City, the team find Sanchez and Orozco's workplace to be in a similar state as all the properties owned by members of the unit saved for Swan's. As they searched, Reacher comes across a framed photo of Sanchez and another woman in the bar and decides it's their next lead. They arrive at Lucky's Lounge bar where Reacher and Neagley questions the whereabouts of the woman while Dixon and O'Donnell are stationed outside. Sometime after, O'Donnell notices the escaping woman but is quickly captured. Inside, Milena apologizes for attempting to run away as she recognizes their faces from Sanchez's photos. The bartender chimes in that a scarred man, claiming to work with Sanchez and Orozco had asked Milena a week prior whether Sanchez had left a digital storage device with her. Suspicious of him, Milena called Sanchez only for him to not answer and suspects something had gone wrong. O'Donnell enquires about Orozco's connection with Calvin and Swan, Milena confirms they were working on a case together and had been to the bar couple of weeks ago as well as mentioning Swan in their case but is not in their operation himself. In her last conversation with Sanchez, Milena recalls he had received a call with the phrase "650 at 100k each" which worries Sanchez who quickly left the bar.

Determining the money was possibly stolen in a casino, the team travels to Neptune Casino and theorize Sanchez and Orozco had stumbled on the case there and reached out to Franz for assistance. The team meets David Wright, Chief of Security of Neptune Casino. He recognizes them from Sanchez and Orozco's frequent tales about the unit. Reacher informs him about a possible case of a gambling scam though Wright assures him they had not lost any significant amount of money as they were accounted for but offers to ask the competitors if they knew anything related to their case and allows them to stay in a suite for a day while it's processed.

In the suite, the team open up about their lives an O'Donnell revealed his well-adjusted life as a father and had abandoned his days of playboy much to Reacher's surprise who see how much he has changed since his 110th days. The following morning, Reacher and Dixon informed them about their discoveries and ordeal at the construction site in which they recovered a New Age Technologies parking pass. Wright updates them Atlantic City PD have discovered Sanchez and Orozco's bodies in the mountains with injuries similar to Calvin's and had been there for some time based on decomposition. Additionally, Wright reveals no one had checked into any hotel within the area with the given A.M aliases and the pair did not work for any of the competitors. When asked about the scam, the competitors verified that any losses were within acceptable margins. Dixon determines the case is centred on New York based on current evidence and facts.

Reacher acquires the group of weapons to which O'Donnell complains due to his unfamiliarity, Reacher and Dixon tease O'Donnell shooting skill, comparing to him not hitting "donkey's ass with a banjo". Among their banter, they are unknowingly tailed by a police cruiser which signals them to park over. Reacher asks Dixon to pull over and the officer orders them to wait. Sometime after, Russo arrives and arrests Reacher once identified, Reacher asks O'Donnell to act as his lawyer and tasks Neagley and Dixon into investigating New Age. O'Donnell accompanies them to the station. Inside the car, Russo reveals he tracked them by obtaining security footage from car rental company at the airport and had recognized them when they were renting a car with Dixon's assistance. He tracks the plate and monitors if it had gone back to New York when it was spotted.

In the interrogation room, Reacher recognizes he was brought for possible information related to his case as he was not processed. Russo announces their efforts are actively interfering with his investigations. They begin to show reluctant goodwill and exchange information based on their shared desire of wanting to solve the case. Russo reveals Franz's phone logs have multiple calls addressed to O'Donnell, Sanchez, Swan, Orozco but not to Reacher who does not carry a phone. Reacher relents and proposes a deal in which they share information about the case. They share the phrase "650 and 100K" in which they assume to be 65 million dollars, though cannot determine how or the purpose. When Russo insinuates his friends were criminals, Reacher angrily confronts Russo and accuses him of being a dirty cop to which he angrily insists the opposite. The tension is resolved with O'Donnell's intervention; he asks him to keep the integrity through him sharing information that they have not known. Russo announces they have a suspect, discovered through a memory card inside a printer in Calvin's office. The print reveals Azhari Mahmoud, known to INTERPOL as a weapons broker for terrorist organizations, and Sanchez's notes indicate he is the man of interest. Reacher realizes Sanchez and Orozco had dug out information for Calvin's ongoing case. Noticing the name has A.M initial, Reacher writes the list from before and tells Russo to have DHS flag all of his aliases. Reacher and O'Donnell realize the case is bigger than they have initially thought.

Sometime later, Russo informs them they have a hit on a person who has booked a ticket from Denver to JFK. Shortly after, they are let go and reunited with Dixon and Neagley who has obtained an address, belonging to Trevor Saropian. Reacher asks for information of Saropian's next door neighbor Barbara Gottlesman who Reacher calls to confirm whether he still lives there. She confirms and the team infiltrate the area after acquiring tools and weapons. They kill everyone inside with O'Donnell assisting Dixon in taking out the men upstairs. Reacher spots a vehicle watching over their fight before the driver frantically leaves after being noticed. Reacher chases after the man only to return and inform the group he was not able to obtain any info as the driver had succumbed to a heart attack.

The team returns to the motel where they are confronted by Russo who is appalled at their reckless actions. Reacher reveals he knows they were being set up as they doubt he would leave his address which brings up two possibilities, suspecting Saropian was working for New Age as a hitman hired to track the unit down with the real address left behind as bait. Russo warns their partnership would only work if they stopped their reckless actions as it had put Russo in a tight spot when he covers up their crime. Additionally, Russo informs A.M. never make it to the airport which invalidates the given list as well as names with initials A.M. Russo offers to search into New Age, but warns them to stay put until they hear from him. Reacher gives Russo their burner number and Russo warns him to not commit any more "cowboy" actions. Reacher disregards his warning as the team rams through the HQ and loot everything they find. While looting, Reacher comes across a photo of New Age's employees and steals it. The team burns their disguises and the group looks shocked as they discovered Swan to be one of the employee.

Afterwards, the team sifts through all the information. When O'Donnell suggests Swan may have played a role in tracking them down, Reacher instantly disputes the accusations owing to their time together in the unit. O'Donnell discovers Swan was working as Assistant Director of Security, under Shane Langston, Director of Security. Additionally, Neagley suspects Marlo Burns who had given them the address, knew she was sending them into a trap, O'Donnell is dismayed in having to looking into all of the employees as they may have played roles in hunting them.

By morning, Neagley discovers Swan has mails addressed to Marlo without sharing them to Langston or any security personnel. In the email, Swan details cryptic information about Little Wing. They learn it was a federal defense project contracted to New Age. Additionally, a test was conducted for military brass though it does not detail time nor location. However, Senator Malcolm Lavoy tried to get congressional approval for Little Wing as he fully believed in the project and was willing to help them. O'Donnell reveals Lavoy is known to engage in illegal activities and decide to interrogate him though Neagley disapproves due to his high security detail. He suggests to question his legislative director as they know details of laws being passed and may have information about the project as well as it was a position with no security attached, O'Donnell reveals he had information of all high personnel and offers to get the name of Lavoy's legislative director and his personal information.

O'Donnell informs the group Lavoy's legislative director is Daniel Boyd who will be attending a fundraiser event in Boston and coordinates with them to apprehend Boyd and interrogate him. In the state, O'Donnell and Reacher visit a clothing store where they dress up in formal wear for the occasion. O'Donnell is confused as to where Reacher had left his casual clothes, Reacher bluntly tells him that it's in the garbage and reasons he didn't want to carry luggage for clothing, causing a chain reaction in him settling in if carried, which O'Donnell jokingly chalks up as sociopathic behavior. He asks him about Marlo's whereabouts and the state of her home though Reacher is uncertain of her reasons, O'Donnell teases him that Marlo could be his soulmate due to her only taking her toothbrush which Reacher amusingly denies.

Waiting at a nearby diner, O'Donnell and Reacher goes over the documents. When a waitress's offhanded comment about tallying their check, Reacher realizes the list is a set of fractions and tallying up resulted in 2197 total but the numbers accounted for successful ones is up to 1547 times. When accounted for the times they have failed, it is decreased to 650 times, same as the phrase "650 at 100K each". During his investigation, O'Donnell receives a call from one of his children in which he advises them to only use their hand for helping, not hitting much to a surprised Reacher who sarcastically remarks O'Donnell as someone who has brass knuckles in his pocket. He tells Reacher domestic life has greatly changed him from his military days and will not trade it for any sum of money, he suggests domestic life with Dixon might be beneficial to Reacher though he says that he would only settle down with 4 to 5 dogs and considers Dixon a close friend. Afterwards, Dixon lures Boyd outside and is apprehend by Oscar Finlay.

In the interrogation room, O'Donnell and Reacher introduced themselves as FBI agents Jack Margrave and Blake owing to Finlay and Reacher's connection 2 years ago. Boyd demands his lawyer but the pair threaten to leak his infidelity and drug use but is willing to let the story go in exchange for information related to Little Wing. Boyd is initially hesitant but relents after O'Donnell threatens to call his wife, Boyd reveals Little Wing is a code name for a software in development that allows ground-fired missiles to beat all known countermeasures but is originally developed to protect commercial aircraft until New Age tweaked the software to its current version. Furthermore, the missiles would initially bypass their main target until it re-acquires. When asked about Lavoy's involvement, Lavoy knows this type of technology would advance their military and Boyd offers to bury its proposal through mountains of documents while Lavoy gathers congressional votes to help greenlight it. Boyd reassures them the technology is in safe hands. He mentions New Age has two facilities, the software produced in New York while the hardware is made in a manufacturing plant in Denver, Colorado. After obtaining more information, Reacher and O'Donnell leave the room with Boyd left confused as to whether the drug charges are dropped.

Afterwards, Reacher tasks himself and O'Donnell to Homeland Security in D.C. where they will learn more about A.M. with his brother's contacts. When O'Donnell enquires about Joe, Reacher bluntly tells them he is dead much to their shock. They make a stop at a nearby diner but is confronted by a biker gang who confiscate all their weapons and intend to silently kill them in the parking lot. Reacher and his unit maim and kill most of them. Reacher contacts Langston to inform him his attempt on their lives has failed. Before departing for D.C., Reacher and O'Donnell stop by at his household where Reacher first meet his family. O'Donnell urges Lily to take their sons and flee to Asheville until the case is solved with no contact with her family, Lily express concern but O'Donnell assures her that it's taken as a precautionary measure and promises he will be safe. After she leaves to tend to their infant, Reacher is surprised at her lack of panic reaction to the situation, O'Donnell explains she is the daughter of an ER nurse and a Chicago fire chief and is used to urgent situations. Reacher amusingly jokes he thought O'Donnell would die from gonorrhea with girls fighting over his riches, O'Donnell states he did not want to get every girl but just the right one. Shortly after, O'Donnell receives a message Neagley and Dixon are in New Age's distribution warehouse.

Shortly after, O'Donnell and Reacher head to Homeland Security and use Joe Reacher's connection to the Treasury department where they meet two DHS Agents about A.M. The agents informed him A.M. is a ghost and only possesses three short recordings of his voice. From their limited knowledge, the agents assumed A.M.'s only ideology is money as he works as a weapons broker and helps the highest bidder to obtain experimental or advanced weaponry. Reacher and O'Donnell realize the buy was supposed to occur with bearer bonds as it's a financial instrument for tax evaders and money launderers. Reacher realizes A.M would use them as he can transport millions in a briefcase without revealing the identity of the bondholder. Recognizing this, he deduces A.M. is likely to make payment in person rather than sending a third party and will be present during the transaction. O'Donnell and Reacher thank the agents and promise to reach out once they've pieced the case together.

Afterwards, Reacher and O'Donnell are contacted by Dixon and Neagley to tell them the missiles were hijacked and Swan had personally authorized its shipment just before it departs, Reacher theorizes Swan was forced or his signature was forged but the pair inform him of his digital thumbprint. Additionally, Dixon tells Reacher New Age had various biometrics security and no possibility Swan was forced without causing a scene and the odds that all employees participated is minimal, tilting further suspicion to Swan. After hanging up, O'Donnell asks if Reacher is willing to kill Swan only for him to tell O'Donnell he is going for a walk. Later, O'Donnell contacts Reacher that Franz's funeral will take place tomorrow as the coroner had released his body.

At his funeral, they divulge details regarding in Denver, Colorado where Neagley learns the shot-up truck was switched with a trailer, containing crates of bricks that is equal to the weight of missiles and launchers. The unit recognizes their plan is to drive a decoy cargo down the port in Los Angeles and will take months before its discovery. The funeral begins but Reacher notices two snipers from afar and alerts funeral goers. They converge and try to formulate a plan in capturing or killing the snipers before cops arrival. Reacher draws their fire, buying enough time for Neagley to kill one of them. Seeing his companion killed, the sniper runs with Reacher in pursuit. After capturing him, the sniper divulges of the meeting location between him and his hirer in Queens. Russo has the exit covered with Dixon and O'Donnell in position, ready to take him out in case he goes rogue. The sniper enters the building only to die in its explosion much to their shock.

Following the explosion, NYPD respond to the scene while they converge at a nearby playground and discussed recent event. O'Donnell immediately comes to the conclusion Swan had set them up to be killed but Reacher affirms Swan was not corrupted. Russo informs the group the building was rigged with IEDs and only contains the body of the sniper with no signs of Swan, Russo comes to the conclusion that someone had military training in setting up the explosives and presumes Swan's plan was to have them killed in the building while taking out the sniper in the playground. Shortly after, Russo is informed Marlo's car was discovered abandoned in north of Manhattan and relays to the group, deciding that it's their next objective.

The unit arrives at the location where they found Marlo's car abandoned near a convenience store. Inside the store, Neagley notices Jane was carrying a Nintendo Switch and can figure out their location through her Switch. Heading back to the Burns house, Neagley informs the group of Jane's IP address. O'Donnell, Dixon, and Reacher arrive and interrogates Marlo who reveals she had hired Swan and pushed him to be on security detail. Swan relayed information about Little Wing in which he discovered operational chips were marked as defective due to an engineer who had been falsifying test records. Additionally, Marlo reveals higher-ups had no knowledge of the incident and does not know of the engineer's identity. Swan had asked help from Franz, Orozco and Sanchez for assistance but had not heard from him since. Following Swan's disappearance, Marlo was forced to cover Swan's exposure, and take the bribe as Langston had threatened to harm her family should she compromise their mission. After Neagley and Dixon visit New Age, Marlo decides to take Jane on the run as she was worried Langston would see her as a liability. When asked about the chips, Marlo speculates Langston's engineer would need to demonstrate chip's installation into the missile. The unit decides to have Marlo set up a meeting as to ambush Langston.

O'Donnell and the unit, having entrusted Jane to Russo's care, arrive at the meeting as planned. However, when Reacher receives a distress call from Russo, who is being pursued, Marlo overhears and begins to fear for her daughter's safety. Sensing a trap, Langston attempts to eliminate Marlo but is intercepted by the team. Reacher orders them to assist Russo while he deals with Langston. However, they arrive too late to save Russo but manage to rescue Jane.

After the shootout, the team converges back at motel where they discuss their next objective. During his time away, it is decided the Burns will take shelter in Buffalo. Reacher tasks O'Donnell and Dixon of safely escorting the Burns while he and Neagley go with their own mission. O'Donnell and Dixon escort the Burns with the former giving them caps to disguise their identity. Noticing Jane is nervous, O'Donnell promises her they will be safe after the case is over. After they have left, Dixon notices his tenderness and tells O'Donnell to leave as he has a higher stake than them but he refuses. Shortly after, they are captured by Langston's men after their location is tracked through GPS in Russo's car. They are taken to R&D facility in Rockland County and hold as leverages against Reacher.

Inside the facility, O'Donnell and Dixon are tortured by Parker and Lennox with O'Donnell pointing out the hypocrisy in Lennox's feelings about killing a man that he had served with for years. Having heard of Langston's demands, Reacher arrives at the facility with Langston greeting him alongside O'Donnell and Dixon who are strapped in their gurneys. After Langston discovers Neagley is missing, Langston demands her whereabouts, Reacher taunts him that he will not kill him until Neagley is found as she is his last loose end, Langston retaliates by shooting O'Donnell in the leg and orders Parker to dig the ammo and remove traces of ballistics. When asked of Swan's whereabouts, O'Donnell is shocked to find out Swan's remains were being used to bypass its biometrics security and frame him as the culprit behind the operation. Langston orders O'Donnell and Dixon to be loaded on the chopper and prepares to kill them.

However, Reacher escapes with Neagley's help and Lavoy's security and grabs its landing gear. Reacher tackles Parker and Langston with O'Donnell's assistance. The fight causes Dixon to nearly fall out but he manages to grab her gurney which leaves him vulnerable to their attackers. Dixon breaks free and fatally stabs Parker. Reacher tosses Langston out of the helicopter, avenging his friends' deaths, O'Donnell is freed by Dixon who threaten the pilot to take them to the meeting. Sometime later, they arrive at Russell Johnson's house and take Russell and the pilot captive.

Afterwards, they captured the weapons broker A.M. Inside, they present the missile and accuses A.M. to have killed their friends over the weapons. A.M. denies the allegation but Reacher knows he does not care innocent lives so long as he acquires finder's fee. A.M. gives them the option to arrest him but O'Donnell rebuffs by assuming he had a top lawyer in his pocket. He is given the option to disclose the buyer but refuses, seeing how it will affect his reputation. He tries to charm his way out by announcing he is just the middleman and prefers to be the seller rather than the one possessing but this statement cost him his life as Dixon, Neagley, O'Donnell and Reacher shoot him multiple times. After killing A.M., the unit recovers the bonds as well as a Little Wing missile and launcher. They head to the barn where they meet Lavoy's security team and discuss on what to do with the pilot and Johnson. They opted to let them go and escape towards the helicopter. When it flows by Hudson River, Neagley fires the missile, killing them both. After discovering Little Wing works, Lavoy's security team betrays them as Lavoy had ordered them to coverup the incident. However, Reacher had anticipated their betrayal and had called Omar Karim from DHS. The department proceed to arrest the trio and the corrupted senator.

Aftermath[]

They stop by a local diner where Dixon suggests to distribute the money to the victims families and tells Reacher to make the decision. After giving money to the grieving families, they spend their time in Rockaway Beach where Reacher informs him he had invested money for his kids which will cover their education and can now take low-danger jobs; which leaves him speechless. The team celebrates their last night together with a photo. The morning after, O'Donnell hitches a ride to the airport and goes back to his home in Washington, D.C.

Personality and Traits[]

Initially recruited in U.S. Army 110th MP Special Investigations Unit, O'Donnell has a devil-may-care attitude and is condescending towards most members, often belittling others for their abilities or appearances, referring to Dixon as "bean counter from accounting services" and Lowrey for his old age. However, over two years, O'Donnell formed a strong sense of camaraderie with the unit, willing to defend a fellow member when they were wronged by a bar patron.[1] O'Donnell's role within the unit evolved into that of comedic relief, often being making fun by others in their lighthearted banters though he took no issues of it. During his military days, O'Donnell is known to be a womanizer and possessed a playboy demeanour, with Reacher guessing he would die from gonorrhoea with girls fighting over his riches. [2]

However, after his military days, O'Donnell met his wife Lily O'Donnell, who he was attracted due to her courages and no-nonsense attitude. Over the course of their marriage, O'Donnell become family devoted and protective over his wife and children, often teaching them to resolve conflicts through peaceful means, as he teaches them their "hands are for helping not fighting".[2]Despite this, O'Donnell carried a switchblade knife in one pocket and knuckleduster in the other, often enjoying a level of sadistic and quick means dealt towards his enemies as compensation for his physical attributions.

Like many of 110th members, O'Donnell exhibited a strong sense of justice and loyalty. However, his methods often diverged from conventional approaches, as he was willing to employ questionable tactics, such as blackmail, to achieve his goals. When Swan is considered to be the mole, a pragmatic O'Donnell quickly looked pass their relationship and is self-assured of the possibility, owing to the facts then.

During investigation, O'Donnell often employs cocky, light-hearted banner as a means to alleviate the tension and resolve any conflicts risen with and within the team.
