Mr. Kliner is a character appearing in the novel Killing Floor. He was the head of the Kliner Foundation.
Reacher first encounters Kliner after having met his son previously. Kliner argues that Reacher hurt his son, and eyes him suspiciously after Reacher rebuffs his claims.
Kliner is later revealed to have found an unimaginable way to counterfeit money, something seemingly unheard of in the United States alone.
Following Reacher and Finlay’s return from Atlantic, Kliner joins mayor Teale and Picard in cornering them in the office. They are later joined by Sergeant Baker, who hands over tapes of Charlie Hubble and Roscoe asking Reacher to follow Kliner’s instructions. Kliner demands that Reacher find Paul Hubble for him, since his wife told him that Reacher knows his location. Reacher denies this, but Kliner doesn’t buy into it. He warns that if Picard doesn’t call back, Finlay will be personally executed by him, and that Charlie and her children will be murdered, and Roscoe tortured to his own pleasure. Kliner is however caught if guard when Reacher asks him where his son is, which he doesn’t ansewer, and instead demands him to leave and find Hubble. Reacher then leaves the office, escorted by Picard.
Kliner and Teale have Roscoe and Charlie Hubble store money in boxes in the third warehouse building. After Reacher kills Teale, Kliner digs after his shot gun, intending to kill Reacher. After careful calculations, Reacher shoots Kliner two times in the chest, and he looses Teale’s shotgun, which ends up firing into a pyramid of money, shooting dollars in the air.
