Papier is the sixth episode of the first season of the Reacher Prime Video television series. It aired on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service on February 3, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Reacher and Finlay follow Kliner's money moving scheme to Tennessee. Reacher goes to New York City to meet with one of Joe's contacts, Professor Kate Castillo, having found that another contact had been murdered. He determines that Kliner had been shipping counterfeit money to a client in Venezuela. Assassins find Roscoe and Hubble’s family, but they evacuate and Roscoe lures them away. While waiting for Picard, Hubble’s wife Charlie shares the details of their involvement with Kliner, explaining that Paul was being blackmailed by threats against him and his family.
Plot[]
After the murder of Mr. Kliner, Finlay checks in with Teale at the Police Station where KJ confronts him. Teale tells Finlay to stand down which instigates Finlay to put more effort in finding out what is going on.
Picard takes Roscoe go to safe house where she can stay and watch over Charlie and the kids.
Realizing that the Bentley Reacher is driving is too recognizable, he takes it to an auto shop to have tinting applied to the windows as an excuse so that he can get a loaner vehicle which doesn't attract as much attention. Reacher and Finlay use the new vehicle to stake out the Kliner warehouse where they discuss Neagley and the 110th. Reacher is typically evasive as he doesn't have much to say about either topic. They see Dawson climb into one of Kliner's box trucks and drive off. They follow him into Tennesee where Dawson finally stops at a motel. Reacher climbs on top of the truck where he cuts a hole in the sheet metal. Much to their surprise, they discover that the truck is empty. Puzzled by this, they make calls to the two professors who Joe was working with and find that Professor Bryant at Princeton has been killed. Reacher calls the other professor, Castillo, and tells her that he is coming to New York and that she needs to take certain precautions to avoid the same fate as her colleague.
At the safe house, Roscoe sees a light outside in the trees and tells Charlie to get the girls ready to run while Roscoe grabs a gun and goes to investigate. She surprises two hitmen and yells for Charlie and the girls to run. They make it away from the house and Roscoe tells Charlie to head for the highway. Roscoe then kills both men. She meets up with Charlie and the girls and they proceed down the road until they come to a diner where they intend to wait for Picard to pick them up. At the diner, Charlie tells Roscoe that her husband had been lured by Mr. Kliner to travel with him to his facility in Venezuela where he learns the truth about what Kliner's operations is about. To enforce Hubble's cooperation, Kliner demonstrates the brutal methods that can be used against him if he doesn't do what he says. Picard shows up and they leave with him.
Finlay takes Reacher to the airport, and after arriving in New York, he obtains a suit that fits him and has a taxi take him to a police station where he asks to see Professor Castillo who has asked the police to protect her until Reacher arrives. The professor tells Reacher that his brother was discussing "Mass Undetectable Counterfeiting" with her and that he had discovered that someone had developed a method to create One Hundred dollar bills that were almost perfect in quality and that they were being made somewhere in Atlanta. Reacher realizes that he had the operation backwards and that instead of shipping in counterfeit currency, the Kliners were actually using the Atlanta facility to ship the counterfeit currency out to Venezuela.
After having a conversation with Officer Diaz about protecting the professor, Reacher discovers that he has been followed and he lures the man to an alleyway where he kills him out on a fire escape.
