Throughout Series[]
In Welcome to Margrave, Paul Hubble is questioned in his home by Finlay and Roscoe. When Finlay asks him about the murder, Hubble notices a black car outside his window and suddenly confesses to killing the man by the highway. Finlay senses he is lying and asks him a trick question about the cause of death and Hubble agrees with what Finlay says. Hubble is arrested and taken to the Margrave Police Station where he is put into the same cell as Reacher. Finlay tells Reacher that both he and Hubble are going to be taken and locked up in the local prison for the weekend with the hopes that Reacher can get some additional information from Hubble. On the bus ride to the prison, Hubble tries to make small talk but Reacher tells him to shut up and that he ruined his trip to Margrave. After being put in a cell together, Reacher is lying on his bunk when their cell door clicks open. Looking outside, Reacher senses something is wrong and tells Hubble to conserve his strength as he's going to need it. Moments later several large men enter the cell and demand that Hubble hand over his glasses. When he does, the Con smashes them under his boot and continues his advances on Hubble while unbuckling his belt. Reacher finally lowers himself from his upper bunk and beats the Con senseless and tells his buddies to take him out of the cell, but not before taking a pair of glasses from one of the other Cons. Reacher and Hubble make their way outside to the athletic yard and sit down on some bleachers. Once again, sensing something is wrong, Reacher tells Hubble that he is going to the bathroom. Hubble follows, and then while Reacher is washing his hands, 5 large Cons enter the bathroom and force all the other men out. Reacher gets into a slugfest with the men and puts them all on the floor with various injuries. The commotion triggers an alarm and guards rush in and quickly usher Reacher and Hubble to a secure area that is not part of the general population of prisoners, which is where they should have been from the start. Reacher tries to sleep, but Hubble turns on the radio, hoping that a Beatles song would come on. Reacher wakes up and Paul explains that Beatles music soothes him ever since his mother used to sing "Rocky Raccoon" to him when he was sick. While Reacher was sleeping, 2 meals were delivered, but Paul tells Reacher that he was not hungry because he had just witnessed Reacher gouging a man's eye out. While Reacher is eating both meals, Hubble tells him that he thinks that they will kill him once he is let out, because he is very important to their operation. The next day, they are both released and Hubble says that he is going to wait for his wife to pick him up.
In First Dance, Hubble is not seen, as he is missing and Charlie claims to not know why he hasn't come home from work. Reacher and Roscoe feel that his family is in danger and should be protected.
In Papier, Charlie is telling Roscoe about her husband's forced involvement in Kliner's operation and in a flashback, Paul is shown being interviewed by Mr. Kliner and then being taken down to see his operation in South America. It is there that Paul discovers that the Kliner's are counterfeiters and that they will resort to torture and murder to see that everyone involved will be under constant threat for compliance.
In Pie, Reacher is forced to track down Hubble while being accompanied by Agent Picard. After shooting Picard and assuming he was dead, Reacher locates Hubble who is told about his family being held hostage. Reacher tells him that he knows that everyone is going to be killed because there can't be any loose ends. However, Reacher has a plan and tells Hubble that if he wants to keep his family alive, that he has to do everything that Reacher tells him to do. They arrive back at Hubble's home where Reacher takes the truck that was used by the hit team and drives it into the Police station where Finlay is being held. The truck mortally wounds Officer Baker and Reacher is able to free Finlay. Hubble brings his car around and after the team gathers up all the firepower they can carry, they head over to the warehouse. Reacher tells Hubble that he has only one job, and that is to get his kids out of the building. With Sniper support from Neagley, Reacher and Finlay enter the building, gunning down resistance as they go, Paul yells when he sees Charlie while up on a catwalk and she yells back that the children are in an office area. Paul manages to break in and rescue the girls after shooting a man who is trying to stop him. He takes the girls outside where he is ultimately reunited with Charlie.
