The Hunter is a character appearing in the 2016 film Jack Reacher: Never Go Back which is based on the Lee Child novel Never Go Back. He is only known as "The Hunter" and apparently works for General Harkness and his Parasource corporation.
The Hunter is ordered by General Harkness to eliminate Major Susan Turner, the Commanding Officer of the U.S. Army 110th MP Special Investigations Unit because she is investigating their activities in Afghanistan. Bogus charges of espionage are brought against Major Turner and she is taken to a local military prison. In the meantime, Jack Reacher has made his way to the headquarters of his old Special Investigations Unit in Rock Creek, Virginia with the intention of meeting Turner, but finds that she has been relieved of command and replaced by a Colonel Sam Morgan who is working with The Hunter. Sensing that Reacher is a threat, they try to scare him out of town, and when that doesn't work, The Hunter brutally murders Turner's JAG Attorney, Colonel Bob Moorcroft, and frames Reacher for the crime. As Reacher is taken to the same prison as Turner, he engineers an escape for both of them. Reacher and Turner track down The Hunter and after a lengthy gun and hand-to-had battle in New Orleans, Reacher breaks his neck and tosses him from a rooftop.
